Encouraged by his friend and poet, Billy Lamont, band founder John Bembenek began performing folk music in coffee shops and bars in Manhattan and around Long Island. Since then, John played with a number of different musicians before forming his own band. It took time to find the right people, but it was clear when the current members of Jerky Medicine first played together, the stage was set. As John says, "Music is all about feeling and soul, and these guys have a lot of soul."
Jerky Medicine currently plays locally and is always looking for new outlets for their music. Although the band has recorded allready, they are looking forward to a demo CD release in the near future.
The band is thankful for the support and inspiration from their family and friends.
